JEE Main 2026 There will be no permission to use any type of calculator in the examination. Neither physical calculator nor on-screen calculator can be used. Earlier there was a typing mistake in the notification of NTA, in which it was written that on-screen calculator will be made available on the computer during the examination. After this information came out, confusion spread among the students. Many candidates raised questions regarding this on social media and asked whether now the facility of calculator will be provided in the examination or not?
To clear these questions and confusion, NTA immediately issued a clarification and said that it was a typing error. The agency said that the mention of on-screen calculator was printed by mistake in the notification. Use of any type of calculator will not be allowed in JE Main 2026, it will remain the same as before.
NTA improved bulletin
NTA has now updated the information bulletin and the mistake has been corrected. The agency said that it has issued a new copy for the convenience of the candidates so that there is no confusion and also NTA has appealed to the students to get the information only from the official website https://jeemain.nta.ac.in.

Confusion had spread among the students earlier
After the mention of on-screen calculator in the previously released bulletin, many students felt that now the exam can be easier than before because the facility of calculator will be available for difficult mathematical calculations, but after the clarification of NTA, the situation has now become clear.
Examination experts say that calculators are not always allowed in a national level examination like JE Main as it will not be able to properly evaluate the calculation ability of the candidates. Both speed and accuracy are tested in the examination and the use of calculators can upset this balance.
When will JE Main exam be held?
The examination will be conducted in two sessions.
- First session in January 2026
- Second session in April 2026
The examination will be computer based and will be conducted at various centers across the country. The application process is expected to start by the end of December 2025.
