The amazing feat done by Indian women’s cricket team’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma in the World Cup final filled the entire country with pride. No one can tell the emotional story behind this historic victory and Deepti’s hard work better than her family. After the match, Deepti’s family shared their heartfelt thoughts in a special conversation.
Deepti’s brother told the story of her hard work
Deepti Sharma’s brother Lovelesh Sharma said, “We had a conversation with Deepti yesterday. Even before the match, she was very confident. Deepti had told that the atmosphere inside the team is very positive. After winning the match, everyone had tears of joy in their eyes.”
He further says, “Deepti had told that whatever role she gets in the final match, she is completely ready for it. Deepti believes that Action Speaks Louder Than Words. Her contribution is very emotional, which will become inspirational for the coming generations.”
Lovelesh also shared an interesting anecdote on how Deepti’s cricket journey started. He told, “Deepti is the youngest among our siblings. One of my brothers also used to play cricket. Deepti had gone to practice with him one day. There in the stadium, Deepti was sitting on the stairs and suddenly a shot came towards her. As soon as Deepti threw the ball, it went straight and hit the wicket.
Famous cricketer Hemlata Kale was present there, she said that ‘the accurate throw made by this girl should be taken forward in cricket.’ My brother took his words seriously, and from there Deepti’s cricket journey began.”
Lovelesh told that initially the people of the locality used to raise questions about when Deepti studies, but the parents always supported their daughter. “Now Diwali has come again for us,”
Deepti’s sister-in-law also shared the story
Deepti’s sister-in-law Neelam Sharma said, “Deepti Sharma is a very good cricketer, but inside the house she is absolutely normal. She also goes to the kitchen, she loves making and eating poha. Deepti is very polite and calm. She loves to laugh and make others laugh, and whenever we meet, she finds some excuse to laugh.”
Neelam told that now the whole family is planning to give a grand welcome to Deepti, “We want to give her a grand welcome and give her lots of surprises.”
