The Supreme Court has approved President Donald Trump’s policy regarding third gender in America. Now there will be no third gender option on American passport. Only male and female options will be available on the passport.
The US Supreme Court said in its order that now by looking at the information on the US passport, people will be able to identify the same gender which was recorded at the time of their birth. However, three liberal judges have objected to this decision of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court says that showing the sex at birth on the passport is in no way a violation of the right to equality. This is like showing the birthplace of the country. It’s just sharing facts. During the beginning of his second term, US President Donald Trump had ordered the State Department to change the passport rules in January this year. According to the President’s order, only two genders will be recognized on the basis of America’s birth certificate. Earlier, the lower court had ordered the removal of this order of the US Justice Department, after which the Trump government had approached the Supreme Court.
Showing gender on passports started in America in 1970. Then in 1990, permission was given to change gender on the basis of medical certificate. Making changes in 2021, the former Biden government had given the right to choose one’s gender without any medical certificate.
Earlier, some changes were also made regarding third gender in US Army recruitment. Information regarding this was also shared on the US Army’s X handle. Under this, people of third gender will not be able to join the American Army.
Information was given by the US Army on social media platform X. The US military will no longer allow transgender individuals to join the military and will stop facilitating gender transition procedures for service members. All new admissions for persons with a history of gender dysphoria have been stopped with immediate effect.
The post further read that all unscheduled, scheduled or planned medical procedures related to confirmation or facilitation of gender transition for service members have also been stopped. Individuals suffering from gender dysphoria have volunteered to serve our country and will be treated with respect and dignity. Gender dysphoria is a psychological condition. In this, a person faces problems due to lack of similarity in biological gender and gender identity.
