Waqf amendment act: The Central Government has issued a notification regarding the Waqf Amendment Act. The Center has informed that the new Waqf law will be applicable today i.e. Wednesday 8 April 2025. President Draupadi Murmu approved on Saturday (April 5) after the Waqf Amendment Bill passed from both houses of Parliament.

Protests are taking place in many states

While protests are taking place in many states of the country against the new Waqf law, the Congress, AIMIM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have challenged in the Supreme Court with different petitions. According to the central government, this law is not anti -Muslim and its purpose is to prevent bias, misuse of Waqf properties. There were 288 votes in favor of the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha and 232 votes in the opposition. At the same time, there were 128 votes in favor of the bill in Rajya Sabha and 95 votes in opposition.

So far 15 petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court

A total of 15 petitions have been filed against this law in the Supreme Court so far. At the same time, the Central Government filed a cavity to avoid the possibility of unilateral order. Demonstrations are being organized against Waqf Amendment Act in many states of the country including Manipur, West Bengal, Patna.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has opened a front against the central government regarding the Waqf law. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind President Syed Sadatullah Hussaini said, “Waqf law is against the Muslims of the country. I think this law does not help in improving the administration of Waqf.”

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind targeted the center

He said, “The government says that this law will improve, but we believe that there will be further problems. The provisions that further spoil the administration, increase corruption and snatch the rights of Muslims have been included in this law.”
