Trump on Hormuz: The ceasefire between Iran and US is now over. Now the conflict has started once again between the two countries. In such a situation, once again the Strait of Hormuz is also in trouble. During this war, US President Donald J Trump is continuously making such statements, which are creating tension among other countries also. In such a situation, if America captures Hormuz, what will happen to India?

Trump’s statement
In fact, recently US President Donald Trump announced that America will again impose a maritime blockade of Iran’s ports. He has proposed that a duty of 20% of the value of goods will be collected from merchant ships of other countries passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump says that America protects this important sea route, so it should get payment in return.

However, after some time, Trump reversed his statement and withdrew this statement. After which they have instead decided to make big agreements related to trade and investment with the countries included in the Gulf Cooperation Council. But still, the matter of concern for India is that if America captures the Strait of Hormuz, what will be its impact.

America’s occupation, impact on India!
India imports more than 85% of its crude oil needs. A large part of it comes from Gulf countries like Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar and most of the oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. If tariffs increase or tensions increase on this route, India’s oil imports may become expensive.

Oil prices may increase
Due to the imposition of toll on the Strait of Hormuz, there may be pressure on the prices of petrol and diesel, inflation may increase and the cost of freight transportation may also increase. The procurement cost of government oil companies like IOCL, BPCL and HPCL may also increase. If the prices of oil and freight will increase, it is obvious that the inflation rate will also increase continuously. This will also shake the country’s economy. In such a situation, this is a matter of great concern for India.
