The results of Bihar Assembly elections showed a tsunami of NDA, which badly defeated all the bets of the Grand Alliance. By winning 202 seats, NDA defeated the grand alliance led by Tejashwi Yadav. After all, what were those factors which gave such a huge victory to BJP and Nitish Kumar and shattered Tejashwi’s dream of becoming the Chief Minister. Let us know-
BJP contested elections on 101 seats and won 89 seats. Whereas JDU also contested 101 seats and won 85 seats. JDU’s seats have almost doubled compared to the last elections. In the 2020 elections, JDU had reached only 43 seats. If we talk about the grand alliance, RJD, which became the largest party by winning 75 seats in the 2020 elections, was reduced to just 25 seats this time. RJD had contested elections on 143 seats on the face of Tejashwi. Apart from this, Congress could win only six seats after fighting on 61 seats. This is the worst performance of Congress and RJD in the last 15 years.
However, the only matter of relief for RJD is that it has got the maximum votes in this election also. 1.15 crore voters voted for RJD, while 1 crore people voted for BJP and JDU got 97 lakh votes. Whereas 44 lakh people have supported Congress. The result of Bihar was completely decisive this time, where the ruling alliance got 202 seats out of 243, while the opposition grand alliance had to be content with only 35 seats.
Factors of NDA’s victory
1- 10 thousand rupees in women’s account
Ever since Nitish Kumar became the Chief Minister of Bihar, he has focused on creating a large support base of JDU among women. First he gave bicycles and financial assistance to the girl students who passed 10th. After that he earned their trust by banning alcohol. Not only this, when the opposition raised questions about liquor ban and Nitish started feeling that its effect was diminishing, he focused on women’s reservation. From government jobs to police recruitment, he implemented 35-35 percent reservation for women. Now, just before the elections, Nitish government transferred Rs 10,000 each to the accounts of 1.13 crore women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, which proved to be a big game changer.
2- Jungle Raj and Katta Sarkar
Whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed rallies after taking charge of the election campaign in Bihar, he reminded the public of the old ‘Jungle Raj’ and ‘Katta Sarkar’. PM Modi strongly attacked RJD and Tejashwi Yadav regarding the law and order situation in Bihar during the time of Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi. His warning was taken seriously by first time voters, women and urban voters. The Prime Minister repeated the word ‘Jungle Raj’, after which security became a big issue and Nitish Kumar’s identity as a good governance babu was further strengthened.
3- Free electricity scheme
Nitish Kumar’s government is also providing up to 125 units of free electricity in Bihar. Under the Chief Minister Electricity Consumer Assistance Scheme, 1.67 crore families of the state will get the benefit. No application is required for this scheme. This was also announced in the month of August. This free scheme played an important role in getting voters to vote in favor of Nitish government by breaking the walls of caste, class and religion.
4- Immaculate image of Nitish Kumar
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been in power for almost 20 years, but his image is completely spotless. Neither the ruling party nor any opposition leader ever accused him of corruption. He went from NDA to Grand Alliance many times and returned to NDA from there, but his image is still completely clean and the people of Bihar see him as ‘Good Governance Babu’, the results are proving this.
5- development
Bihar was once called a backward state, whose wheel of development was stuck in the mud. However, after Nitish came to power, many types of development works including roads, highways, railway bridges, overbridges took place in the state. Due to the speed of his work, he also got the title of ‘Development Man’. After he came to power, law and order also improved, due to which development works could accelerate.
