A new controversy has arisen regarding the superhit film ‘OMG 2’ released in the year 2023. Recently, actor Paresh Rawal claimed in an interview that the story and idea of the film was his, but he was not given credit for it. Now the film’s director Amit Rai and co-producer Ashwin Varde have broken their silence on these allegations. Both of them have completely rejected Paresh Rawal’s claims and called them baseless.
Amit Rai angry at Paresh Rawal
Talking to Hindustan Times, Amit Rai said, ‘On what basis is he saying this? First of all they should answer this. They are just claiming. To say it, he can say anything. He is a big actor, I cannot go to him and ask why he is saying this.
Comparing the film to raising a child, Amit further said, ‘As far as I remember, I am the father of this film, I am the one who made it and took it forward. The proof of this is the certificate of the Screenwriters Association and the stamp which is put by the officials who look at the script, my name is on it.
Paresh Rawal woke up very late…
Amit Rai further said, ‘This could be Paresh Rawal’s personal opinion and I think the answer will be between him and the production company or between him and Akshay sir. I have written and produced the film. He woke up very late.

What did Ashwin Varde say?
The film’s co-producer Ashwin Varde has called Paresh Rawal’s allegations “false”. He told that when writer and director Amit Rai narrated this story to him, he immediately felt that it was similar to the format of ‘OMG’. Then Amit had told that it was Paresh Rawal who had asked him to keep this story close to the format of ‘OMG’.
For me this was no less than a theft…
Ashwin Varde revealed that the rights of ‘OMG’ are with Akshay Kumar. When Amit asked Paresh about this, Paresh claimed that he had its rights. Ashwin said, ‘Only then did I understand what Paresh ji was trying to do. They wanted to use someone else’s property, which is very wrong. For me this was no less than a theft.
Why did Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan refuse?
Paresh Rawal had said in his interview that he had first approached Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan for Akshay Kumar’s role (God’s messenger). On this, Ashwin Varde said, ‘Those actors refused to do the film because they knew that it was OMG and it was Akshay Kumar’s. Why is Paresh interfering in someone else’s matter? He should go and talk to Akshay. The script is registered in the name of Amit Rai and he is its only writer.
Got producer credit and money without any contribution…
Ashwin Varde also told that Paresh Rawal was given full respect and his part in the film. He said, ‘It is also important to mention that Paresh Rawal was given the credit of producer in OMG 2, even though he had no contribution in the film. He had decided to give this credit to his wife Swaroop Sampat and business partner Hemal Thakkar. Apart from this, he was also paid the fixed amount for this film, which he forgot to mention in his interview. No one tried to cheat Paresh Rawal.
What did Paresh Rawal say?
In fact, during the interview given to Vivek Lalwani, Paresh Rawal has claimed that ‘OMG 2’ was actually based on the idea which he had prepared together with director Amit Rai. But after the joining of Akshay Kumar, many changes were made in it. Paresh told that he had contacted Amit Rai, director of ‘Road to Sangam’, because he liked his work very much. It is noteworthy that Paresh Rawal played the lead role in the first ‘OMG’, while Pankaj Tripathi was in the lead role in its sequel.
