A passenger bus going from Mecca to Medina collided with a diesel tanker on Monday (17 November 2025). 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims are reported to have died in this tragic accident. This accident happened at around 1:30 pm Indian time at a place called Mufrihat. All the people sitting in the bus are said to be residents of Hyderabad, which included women, children and men.
At the time of the accident, many passengers were sleeping and had no idea of the accident. After completing Umrah, everyone was going towards Medina, where they wanted to reach for Ziyarat. According to local officials, the exact number of casualties and information about survivors is still not available. However, the rescue operation is going on.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed grief
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed deep grief over the incident. He has given instructions to identify the dead in the state and provide all possible help to their families. He has asked to coordinate with the Union Foreign Ministry and Saudi Embassy. Apart from this, a control room has been set up in the Secretariat to help the affected families on behalf of the state government. Where they can get information about their relatives and seek help. The government has issued two helpline numbers so that the family members can get immediate assistance.

Talk to the central government for help
The Chief Minister has asked officials of the Union Ministry of External Affairs and Saudi Embassy to deal with the situation and provide all possible help to the affected families. On his instructions, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao has started gathering information by talking to Coordination Secretary Gaurav Uppal posted in Delhi.
