Announcing new plans for the Border Security Force (BSF), Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that operations against cross-border terrorism and infiltration will be further intensified. Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, it was said that civilians were targeted on the basis of religion, after which ‘Operation Sindoor’ was launched to respond to Pakistan. According to the Home Minister, Pakistan Army came into action after the attack, but BSF soldiers responded with full preparation on the front.
In the 61st Foundation Day celebrations of BSF, the first line of security of the country, Amit Shah said that during the operation, the security forces took action against the networks of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul and completely destroyed their structures at 9 places. According to him the objective was clear – elimination of terrorism and security of the citizens of the country.
Deadline set to end Naxalism by 2026
Giving a clear date, the Home Minister said that it is our resolve to completely free the country from the Naxal problem by 31 March 2026. According to Amit Shah, BSF has dealt a major blow to drug and arms smuggling through the borders. A separate campaign was launched to catch the gangs operating on the border and many major successes were achieved.
BSF engaged in mission to stop infiltration at every border
He said that today BSF is working with full capacity to stop infiltration on all the borders. According to Shah, some political parties are trying to weaken the campaign to drive out infiltrators, while the Election Commission is helping in making this process systematic and safe through SIR.
BSF establishment parade was held in Jodhpur in 2024
The 2024 Raising Day Parade of the BSF was held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where Shah underlined the sacrifices made by the personnel in the line of duty. According to Shah, more than 1992 BSF personnel have sacrificed their lives by 2024 and 1330 personnel have been awarded medals, which include 1 Mahavir Chakra, 6 Kirti Chakra, 13 Vir Chakra, 13 Shaurya Chakra, 56 Sena Medals and 1,241 Police Medals.
