What will be the time of night shift?
According to the new rules, the night shift time of women in Uttar Pradesh has been fixed from 7 pm to 6 am. Earlier this time was from 9 pm to 6 am, which has been changed to be more flexible. However, it has also been made mandatory to take consent of the female employee before working in night shift.
Yogi government decided the rules of security and facilities
The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has clearly said that employers will have to make all necessary arrangements for the safety of women doing night shifts. In these arrangements, facilities like CCTV surveillance at the workplace, deployment of women security guards, transportation facilities for night shifts, health and comfort facilities will also have to be provided to women. Along with this, systems like Safe City Project, 1090 Women Power Line, 112 Helpline and Anti Romeo Squad are also being strengthened so that women can work without fear.
You will get double salary for working in night shift
According to the new rules, women working during these hours of the night will get double salary. Also, women will be able to work 6 days a week. The overtime limit has been increased from 75 hours to 144 hours per quarter. At the same time, overtime will also be paid at double the rate of normal wages. Apart from this, earlier women were limited to only 12 industrial categories, but after the new instructions of Yogi government, now women have been allowed to work in all 29 hazardous industrial categories. This is being considered a big change in the direction of increasing women’s work participation. Yogi government has also amended the Shops and Commercial Establishment Act of 1962.
This new law will now be applicable to all those establishments where 20 or more employees work. Clinics, polyclinics, service centres, home delivery and other commercial establishments have been included in this. Apart from this, the new law also increases strictness on the employer. According to the new law, a fine of Rs 2000 will be imposed on the first offense and a fine of up to Rs 10,000 on the second offence. Earlier this fine was only between Rs 100 to Rs 500.
