The use of AirDrop will no longer be limited to only Apple users. Android users will now also be able to use AirDrop, which was seen as a big advantage for the Apple ecosystem for a long time. This feature allowed Apple users to share files faster. Now Google has also cracked it and it will work on Android devices also. Let us know about this in detail.
How will AirDrop work on Android phones?
Google’s Quick Share app is available for file sharing, but till now it was not compatible for cross-platform. Now Google has overcome this obstacle without the help of Apple. This means that Google’s Quick Share can now exchange files with Apple’s AirDrop. That means Android users will be able to send files to iPhone through AirDrop through Quick Share. Similarly, Apple users will also be able to share files on Android devices through Quick Share through AirDrop.
How to use AirDrop on Android?
Currently this feature is available only on Pixel 10 devices and in future it can be rolled out on other devices also. If you want to share files with your friend who has an iPhone from Pixel 10, then your friend will have to make his iPhone discoverable to anyone on AirDrop. After this it will become visible in Quick Share. Select it and share the file. In this way you can receive files from iPhone.
Google did not take help from Apple
If you are thinking that this cross-platform feature has been created jointly by Apple and Google, then it is not so. Google has not taken any help from Apple for this. Google did not even talk to Apple for this. However, the company spokesperson said that Google is ready to join hands with Apple to work on this in future.
