In Uttar Pradesh, the process of special intensive revision of voter list i.e. SIR is going on at a fast pace. Meanwhile, cyber criminals have also become active, regarding which State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has alerted the people. He has warned voters to beware of OTP fraud.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that voters have been advised to remain alert during the process of SIR. He said that no OTP is asked by the BLO in the voter list purification. He clarified that during this entire process, OTP is not taken from voters at any stage.

No OTP required in SIR

The Chief Electoral Officer said that during the process of SIR, all the BLOs are going door-to-door and giving the counting forms to the voters and getting the forms filled. OTP is not required in this process. While issuing an alert to the voters, he said that some unruly elements are posing as BLO and asking for mobile OTP from the people, such people are fake and suspicious.

The Election Commission has termed such cases as a possibility of cyber fraud and has appealed to the people to be cautious of these rumours. If someone asks you for OTP for SIR by calling, messaging or in any other way, then the voter should not share his OTP with him under any circumstances.

Appeal to voters to be cautious

The Election Commission said that such people can cheat voters. To avoid these incidents, the Election Commission appealed to the people to contact their BLOs. The Election Commission said that voters can also fill the counting form themselves and submit it to the BLO.

Navdeep Rinwa has instructed all the District Election Officers to run an awareness campaign to stop the rumors related to SIR so that people remain cautious in the process of SIR and no irregularities can happen.
