Gujarat captain Urvil Patel scored a stormy century against the Services team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. If we count only the runs of sixes and fours of Urvil in this innings, it becomes 108. The captain’s brilliant cross gave Gujarat a big win by 8 wickets. Seeing this innings, MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings management will also be happy, because they have retained Urvil for the upcoming edition (IPL 2026).
Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 edition started from today itself. Group stage match number 3 was played between Gujarat and Services at Gymkhana Ground. Gujarat captain Urvil Patel had won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Services scored 182 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Gaurav Kochhar played a good inning of 60 runs.

Captain Urvil Patel completed his century in 31 balls. This is Urvil’s second fastest century in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He is the joint fastest century batsman in the tournament. He scored a century in 28 balls against Tripura in 2024. Abhishek Sharma is at the top with him, he also scored a century in 28 balls last year.
On Wednesday, Urvil Patel played an inning of 119 runs in 37 balls against Services. Out of these, only 11 runs were scored by running while 108 runs were scored by boundaries only. In this innings, Urvil hit 10 sixes (60 runs) and 12 fours (48 runs).

Urvil Patel remained unsold in the mega auction held last year, but Chennai Super Kings included him in their team as a replacement. CSK made him a part of the team for his base price of Rs 30 lakh. Chennai Super Kings has retained Urvil Patel for IPL 2026.
Urvil Patel played his debut match in IPL 2025. He played a total of 3 matches for CSK, in which he scored 68 runs at a strike rate of 212.
