Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has changed the rules related to Aadhaar card. The government has made it clear that now Aadhar card will not be accepted as birth certificate or proof of date of birth. In this regard, the planning department has issued instructions to all the departments.
This decision of the UP government has been taken on the basis of the letter issued by the regional office of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on October 31. In this letter it was said that the date of birth recorded in the Aadhar card is approximate, hence the Aadhar card cannot be considered as an authentic document.
Planning Department issued orders
After this letter, Special Secretary, Planning Department, Amit Singh Bansal has issued orders to the Principal Secretaries and Additional Chief Secretaries of all the departments. The Planning Department clarified that as per the guidelines issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India, Aadhaar card is not a presumptive proof of date of birth.
However, Aadhaar card is still being accepted as date of birth by various departments of the state government. You are requested not to accept Aadhar Card as a certificate of date of birth. The government gave strict instructions that from now on Aadhar card should not be used as a certificate of date of birth in any government process.
Estimated date of birth on Aadhar card
Actually, according to UIDAI, birth certificate, school record or any hospital document is not compulsorily taken in the process of making Aadhar card. In such a situation, the date of birth mentioned on it is approximate and cannot be considered as an authentic document.
The planning department said that only birth certificate issued from hospital, high school certificate, records registered by Municipal Corporation, government job, pension, scholarship, license and documents covered under government schemes can be taken as birth certificate.
