There has been a tussle between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka for a long time. To end this, a high profile breakfast meeting is going to be held in Bengaluru today (29 November). In this, Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivkumar will sit face to face and talk.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said on Friday that the party leadership has asked him and Shivakumar to sit together on Saturday morning and discuss over breakfast, so that this matter can be resolved. Both the leaders will meet today at CM residence Kaveri at 9:30 am. The party high command has directed to call this meeting to keep the situation under control and resolve the matter.
Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar seen on one stage
Amidst all this, on Friday itself Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar were seen on the same stage in a government program. Meanwhile, DK Shivkumar made a comment from the stage praising Sonia Gandhi’s sacrifice in leaving the post of Prime Minister in 2004, which is being considered a taunt on Siddaramaiah in political circles.
What did Karnataka Home Minister say?
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that if the high command wants, he will support DK Shivakumar as the Chief Minister. However, shortly after this, the statement of Siddaramaiah camp minister Zameer Ahmed Khan came out. He said that Siddaramaiah will remain the Chief Minister for his entire tenure.
Winter session will start from December 8
This breakfast meeting is being considered as an initiative of the high command to stop the growing tension in the party. The winter session of the state assembly is going to start from December 8 in Belagavi. In such a situation, Congress wants to send a message to the opposition BJP and JDS that everything is fine within the government. At the same time, Siddaramaiah has made it clear that he is holding this meeting only on the orders of the high command, he will do whatever the high command says.
