The uproar in Pakistan regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan is not showing any signs of stopping. Now a leader of his party has expressed concern over the condition of Imran Khan in jail. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khurram Zeeshan, while talking to news agency (ANI), said, ‘He has been kept in complete isolation for almost a month. No conversation is possible with his family, lawyers or senior party leaders.
Zeeshan said, this is clearly a violation of human rights. The officials are constantly pressurizing them to accept the conditions.
‘We have been assured that he is alive’
Shaan told that in a few days we have been assured that he is alive, and Adiyal is in jail. He is fine. He has also mentioned the conditions laid down by the government and the army. He is trying to make a deal with Imran. They are being asked to leave the country. They have been claimed to be given exemption to leave the country and live at a place of their choice. But Imran is not ready for this. The kind of leader he is, he will never accept these conditions.
After all, what has been happening in Pakistan for some time?
In fact, this week some social media handles claimed that Imran was killed. These rumors came when Pakistan ignored the court order and did not allow Imran to meet his family and lawyer.
Zeeshan said that this is very bad. He has been kept in isolation. He has not been allowed to meet his family, his lawyers and senior party leaders. Khan Saheb is so popular that just one of his pictures can change the political scene of the country. The Pakistani regime is feeling threatened. This restriction has been imposed deliberately. There is an attempt to keep Imran away from the world.
Zishan said that since the day he was jailed, not a single photograph, recorded voice clip or video has been allowed to come out. Cameras are banned even during court hearings. There are strict restrictions everywhere.
What is the family saying?
There has also been a reaction from Imran Khan’s family on this entire matter. His son Qasim Khane has made a public appeal saying that the 73-year-old leader has been kept in captivity for weeks. The family has no access to it. There is no transparency from the officials. Here, on behalf of PTI and his family, it has been termed as an undeclared blackout.
Qasim Khan wrote in a social media post, ‘Father has been kept in custody for 845 days. For the last six weeks, he has been kept in solitary confinement in the death cell. Despite court orders, officials are refusing all meetings. No evidence of his life has been found.
Apart from this, Qasim wrote, ‘This is a blackout, there is no security protocol. This is an attempt to hide his condition. If anything happens to them, the Pakistani government and its handlers will be held responsible.
Qasim has appealed to Human Rights Organization and Democratic governments to intervene in the whole matter.
Too much censorship on journalists and media
Imran’s sister Noreen Niazi said that there is too much censorship on the media. Journalists and media owners are being detained. Being threatened to remain silent. Many well-known journalists have fled the country. Comparing Pakistan’s rule with that of Hitler, he said that we used to hear and read about Hitler, the same is happening in Pakistan. He has also accused Shahbaz Sharif of rigging the elections.
