Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Nawaz was banned for three months for violating ICC’s anti-doping code. He had consumed a banned substance during the T20 World Cup this year, when tested, his report came back positive, after which the ICC took action and banned Nawaz for 3 months with immediate effect.
The International Cricket Council issued a statement saying that all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz had consumed Carboxy-THC drug after the match against Netherlands in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The 32-year-old Pakistani cricketer has also accepted the allegations. However, he says that he did not take this substance to boost performance.
The ban on Mohammad Nawaz came into effect from May 1, but after completing the ICC’s rehab program, the period of the ban imposed on him was reduced from 3 months to one month. Nawaz has already faced a suspension of two and a half months and after the rehabilitation programme, the ban on him has been lifted.
Under the ICC Anti-Doping Code, the record of Nawaz in all the matches played till May 1, the match against Netherlands in the T20 World Cup 2026 on May 7 and the date of start of the ban, were declared invalid. Let us tell you that Mohammad Nawaz has not played any match for Pakistan team after the Super-8 match against Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup.
Mohammad Nawaz has played 148 matches for Pakistan so far in his international career, in which apart from taking 169 wickets, he has also scored 1593 runs. He was last seen playing in PSL 2026, where his team Multan Sultans lost against Hyderabad Kingsmen in the eliminator match.
