On Sunday, two government buses collided head-on near Thirupathur in Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu, in which 11 people died. It is feared that more than 30 people may be injured in this accident. Investigation has been started to find out the reasons for this accident.
Emergency team reached the spot
Police said that one bus was going to Karaikudi while the other was going to Madurai when both the buses collided with each other on the road near Tirupathur. Many passengers were trapped in the vehicles after the collision, but local residents and emergency teams rescued them.
The injured have been taken to Sivagangai Government Hospital. Officials said that the death toll may increase due to the serious condition of some passengers. Police said that the collision was so strong that the front parts of both the buses were badly damaged, due to which many people died on the spot.

This is the second time in the last one week in Tamil Nadu that two buses collided with each other, resulting in the death of many people. On Monday (23 November 2025), two buses collided head-on in Tenkasi district of the state. Six people died in this accident, while about 30 passengers were injured.
Those who died included 5 women and one man. The bus going from Madurai to Senkottai and the bus going from Tenkasi to Kovilpatti had collided. Then investigation revealed that the driver was at fault. The driver of the bus going from Madurai to Senkottai was driving carelessly and at high speed.
