Senior BJP leader Prem Kumar has become the speaker of the assembly. After being elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Assembly, he gave his first reaction by saying that I have long experience. Became MLA for the 9th time. He was the leader of opposition and a minister. The House will run according to the rules and regulations. Will run smoothly. The ruling party and the opposition will all be equal for me. Everyone will get a good opportunity to express their views.
He further said, “We also need everyone’s cooperation.” This is the beauty of democracy. As per the tradition of democracy, CM Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav took me to the Speaker’s chair and made me sit on the seat. I welcome both the leaders and thank them. Whatever responsibility I have been given, I will run the House in a better way by taking everyone along.

Prem Kumar also mentioned the Emergency of 1975
Prem Kumar said, “I joined the movement of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan in the year 1974. I was a member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Gradually the caravan increased. At that time, I got the company of many leaders including Jannayak Karpoori Thakur ji, Ramanand Tiwari ji. Later the movement continued under the leadership of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan. Emergency was imposed in 1975. We went to jail during emergency. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Chandrashekhar ji, Chaudhary Charan Singh and many leaders of Bihar went to jail.
‘I will work to live up to the trust of NDA leaders’
He further said, “When he came back from jail, Janata Party government was formed in 1977 and then his political journey started.” After that he joined BJP in 1980. Worked in BJP organization from 1980 to 1990. Got the opportunity to become MLA continuously since 1990. In 2015, I was also the Leader of Opposition. Got a chance to be in the cabinet continuously since 2005. This time the NDA leaders have given a big responsibility as the Speaker of Bihar Assembly. I will definitely work to live up to his trust.
