Thai authorities are starting the process of deporting Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, co-owners of the Goa nightclub where a fire killed 25 people on December 6. Official sources gave this information on Friday (December 12, 2025).
He told that the Indian Embassy in Bangkok is in constant touch with the Thai authorities in this matter. Sources said that after the intervention of the Embassy, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra have been detained by Thai authorities in Phuket.
He told, ‘Thailand authorities are currently taking action as per local laws, which also includes sending both of them back to India.’
Thais flee after nightclub fire
Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, co-owners of ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub in North Goa, fled to Phuket, Thailand soon after the fire incident. Interpol’s ‘Blue Corner’ notice has been issued against him.
Delhi court rejected anticipatory bail petition
A Delhi court on Wednesday (December 10, 2025) refused to grant interim protection from arrest to both the accused, while their partner was detained in connection with the arson incident.
In the court, the counsel for Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra refuted the allegations of their eloping, claiming that the trip was for a business meeting and argued that the two brothers are only licensees and not the actual owners of the nightclub.
Goa Police wants custody of Luthra Brothers
Meanwhile, a senior Goa official said on Friday that the state police is in constant touch with central agencies for the extradition of the Luthra brothers. He said that till now the statements of 50 people have been recorded in the case and the court has extended the police custody of accused Bharat Kohli in the case for six more days on Friday.
Goa Police has already arrested five managers and employees in connection with the fire that broke out on the night of December 6 at the night club in Arpora, 25 km from Panaji.
