Virat Kohli is the only Indian to be nominated for the 2025 ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award. Virat had said goodbye to the Test format this year, but his ODI form has been excellent, he has scored 50+ consecutively in the last 4 ODI innings. Apart from Virat, there is no other Indian in the nomination list for ODI Cricketer of the Year.
According to reports, Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Matthew Bretzke, Shay Hope, Daryl Mitchell, Matt Henry, Adil Rashid, Sikandar Raza, Mitchell Santner and Jaden Seales have been nominated for the 2025 ODI Cricketer of the Year award. The shocking news is that Rohit Sharma has not been able to make a place in this list, whereas in 2025, Rohit and Kohli have scored almost equal number of runs.
In the year 2025, Virat Kohli is the Indian batsman who has scored the most runs so far. This year Virat has scored 651 runs in 13 ODI matches. He has scored these runs at an excellent average of 65.10. Virat has played 3 centuries and four half-centuries this year. In the recent ODI series against South Africa, he had scored 2 consecutive centuries and one half-century. In that entire series, 302 runs came from his bat.
Virat Kohli will next be seen playing in the Indian domestic List-A tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was last seen playing in this tournament about a decade ago. This year, Virat had made the record of being the second highest run-scorer batsman in ODI cricket by surpassing Kumar Sangakkara. He has scored 14,557 runs in 308 ODI matches.
He has already made the record of scoring most centuries in any one format. Virat has 53 centuries in his name in ODI, before this the record of most centuries in one format was in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who had scored 51 centuries in Test.
