The production designer has revealed about this set.
The Lyari set was not made in India but was made in Bangkok, Thailand. The makers have done a lot of work to recreate Lyari. Its detailing is tremendous.
How did Lyari become the area of Rehman dacoit?
Dhurandhar’s production designer Hollywood Reporter India Saini S Johar told that this film shows the Lyari area of Pakistan and the set of Lyari was built in Bangkok, Thailand. He said- We had to build a set of 6 acres in 20 days. We could not take more people from India to Bangkok. That’s why I had to work closely with the local artists there. 500 people from Thailand worked day and night every day to build the set.
Shooting was not done in Mumbai
Johre told that most of the scenes showing Lyari, the old area of Karachi, Pakistan, were shot in Bangkok. To give more depth to the story, another big set was built in Mumbai. He said, ‘It was impossible to shoot scenes in Mumbai with the big stars we had. We needed a very big space. We looked at locations in many countries but finally found a place in Thailand. There we got space to build a big set.
Talking about Dhurandhar, it depicts the relationship between Pakistani leaders, gangsters and terrorist networks. Akshay Khanna, Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt have played important roles in the film.
