After its conclusion, the second part of Ranji Trophy will start again. Apart from these, there are also senior women’s ODI and T20 tournaments, while there are many matches at the junior level as well. In all these, the responsibility of umpiring is handled by a total of 186 current BCCI umpires.
How many umpires under BCCI and how much do they earn?
According to Cricbuzz reports, BCCI has divided umpires into 4 different categories. According to this, BCCI has divided umpires into A+, A, B and C categories. This is exactly the same as the senior men’s team’s annual contract grades. The number of umpires in these categories is also different.
According to the report, there are currently 9 umpires in A+, 20 in A, 58 in B and 99 in C. As far as salary is concerned, A+ and A umpires get the same amount of Rs 40,000 per day. Whereas B and C category umpires get Rs 30,000 per day. But this salary has not increased for the last 7 years.
Umpires committee recommended to BCCI
The Cricbuzz report mentions the recommendations of the BCCI Umpires Committee, which were presented in the BCCI Apex Council meeting. It was recommended that instead of 4 different categories, only 2 categories should be kept and everyone’s salary should be the same i.e. Rs 40,000 per day. However, for now the board has postponed it and has talked about forming a separate committee, which will present its report in the next Apex Council meeting.
