Jaya Bachchan wrote- In 1976 we went into waiting. The house which he had built. We went to live there even when there were no proper curtains or windows. Now he had his own house, but he rarely lived there. This was the busiest period of his life. After Abhishek’s birth, Amitji and I used to try to spend time together. He was doing big blockbuster films at that time but at home he remained normal and carefree. Gradually his confidence was increasing. Meanwhile, I was moving further away from the film industry. He did not bring his work home and I had no idea how many films he was signing and with whom he was working. I did not interrogate him unnecessarily.
How was the house named Pratiksha?
This house of Amitabh Bachchan was named by his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan had once told the story behind the name of this house in Kaun Banega Crorepati. He revealed that his father had named him on the basis of a line from his poem ‘Welcome to all but wait for none’. Which means that everyone is welcome, but don’t wait for anyone.
