The Donald Trump administration is scrutinizing marriage-based green card applications more closely, with officials placing greater emphasis on whether the marriage is genuine rather than merely legal on paper. Under this, the Trump administration had suspended the Diversity Visa (DV) lottery. Immigration attorney Brad Bernstein said that a green card is not obtained just by being in a relationship, but by living together. He clearly said that if the husband and wife do not live in the same house then there is every possibility that his case will be dismissed.
It is necessary for husband and wife to live together
Releasing a video on Facebook, he said that in matters related to marriage, immigration officials do not care about why you live apart, nor whether it is for work, study, money or convenience. He said that American authorities are only concerned about whether you actually live together as husband and wife or not.
The immigration attorney said, ‘If the husband and wife do not live in the same house every day, the immigration department will start investigating the marriage. Once the investigation starts, the authorities may refuse to grant the green card, so if you want a green card, you will have to stay together. According to Brad Bernstein, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) does not just look at addresses, but assesses the complete authenticity of the relationship.
