The case of suspicious murder of a Telugu woman in America has taken a shocking turn. The deceased’s ex-boyfriend Arjun Sharma had allegedly withdrawn around Rs 3.16 lakh ($3,500) from her bank account before fleeing to the US after the murder. 26-year-old Arjun was arrested by the Interpol team in Tamil Nadu on Monday (January 5, 2025).

Nikita Godishala, a 27-year-old data analyst from Maryland, USA, was reported missing on January 2. According to police, Arjun told Howard County Police the same day that he had last seen Nikita on New Year’s Eve (December 31). The surprising thing is that within a few hours of filing the complaint, Arjun flew to India, which made the authorities suspicious and alerted them.

Misappropriation of money has been revealed in the complaint given by Nikita’s sister Saraswati to the Indian Embassy in America. Saraswati alleges that before running away, Arjun unauthorizedly transferred $3,500 from Nikita’s account. Earlier, at the end of December, Arjun had sought financial help from Nikita and his sister.

Saraswati told that she had lent a total of $4,500 to Arjun, out of which he had returned only $3,500. When he asked for an additional one thousand dollars on January 2, he refused. In this entire case, American Federal Agencies and Indian officials worked together, after which the location of accused Arjun was traced and he was arrested from Tamil Nadu. The police has started taking further legal action.
