There is good news for the Indian cricket team, because ODI team vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has been declared fit. Iyer can be seen playing in the India vs New Zealand ODI series starting from January 11. BCCI had included him in the Indian squad, but also said that Shreyas Iyer’s playing will depend on his fitness.

According to Dainik Jagran, Shreyas Iyer is fit to play in the ODI series against New Zealand. His rehab going on at BCCI’s Center of Excellence for the last few days has ended. National Cricket Academy head VVS Laxman has submitted the fitness report of Shreyas Iyer to Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar through e-mail.

Before returning to the Indian team, Shreyas Iyer had to prove his fitness by playing 2 matches. He made a comeback in the match against Himachal Pradesh in Vijay Hazare Trophy. While playing for Mumbai in that match, Iyer had scored 82 runs. Let us tell you that Iyer was appointed the captain of the Mumbai team for the remaining league matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He will now play his second match against Punjab on 8th January.

Shreyas Iyer was injured while taking a catch during the ODI series against Australia. Due to internal bleeding, his condition became very serious, he even had to stay in ICU. Now after a long rehabilitation process, Iyer is completely fit.
