FIFA World Cup 2026 Quarter-finals: The first quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup 2026 was played between France and Morocco on 10 July (Indian time). France won the match 2-0 and made it to the semi-finals. After the match, a picture quickly went viral on social media, in which Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are seen. It is being claimed that both the Indian players had come to watch the match and they cheered the French star Kylian Mbappé.
In the viral picture, Kohli and Gill are seen sitting in the stands. Both the veterans are wearing black glasses. Looking at the photo, it seems as if it has been cut from a video of the match. The score of the match is visible at one corner. This photo was taken when more than 41 minutes of play had been completed.
Captioning the photo, it was written, “Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are watching the France vs Morocco match and cheering for Kylian Mbappe.

What is the truth of the picture?
Talking about the authenticity of the picture, no concrete evidence has been found about it. Neither Kohli nor Gill mentioned anywhere that both had gone to watch a FIFA match. Hence this is a fake picture. This picture has been created by editing.
A few days ago, another picture went viral, in which it was claimed that MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli had come to watch the Portugal match. Both of them cheered Portugal’s legend Cristiano Ronaldo. During investigation the photo was found to be a lie.
France became the first team to reach the semi-finals
France became the first team to reach the semi-finals of this World Cup. The team will play the semi-final match on 15th July (Indian time). The second semi-finalist team is yet to be decided. Now it will be interesting to see who France faces in the semi-finals.
