Recently there was news of gang rape of a Hindu woman, after which she was tied to a tree and then her hair was cut. Shikhar Dhawan has expressed grief over this incident through social media.

Shikhar Dhawan wrote on social media, “Heartbroken to read about the brutal incident with a Hindu widow in Bangladesh. Such a violent incident anywhere and with anyone is unacceptable. My prayer is that the victim gets support and justice.”
Many brutal incidents of attacks on Hindus have come to light in Bangladesh. Last Tuesday, a Hindu man jumped into the canal to escape the crowd, after which he died. On Monday, a businessman and a newspaper editor were shot dead, whose name was said to be Rana Pratap Bairagi.
The incident on which Shikhar Dhawan expressed grief happened with a Hindu widow. Two men raped the woman, then tied her to a tree and cut her hair. Its shocking pictures were widely shared on social media.

These incidents have also affected the cricket relations between India and Bangladesh. On the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders had released Mustafizur Rahman. After that the Bangladesh Cricket Board had refused to send its team to India for the T20 World Cup 2026. Recently, the controversy over Bangladesh’s demand to shift the World Cup matches to Sri Lanka has deepened.
