The ongoing anti-government protests in Iran have taken a distorted form. A doctor in the capital Tehran, on condition of anonymity, told Time magazine that at least 217 deaths of protesters have been recorded in only six hospitals of the capital, most of which have died due to firing.
Since protests began in Iran last month, the government has completely banned internet and phone calls in the country. The demonstrations intensified after the appeal made on Thursday by exiled King Reza Pahlavi, living in America, which has now spread to all 31 provinces of Iran. People are demanding the overthrow of Islamic rule. The protesters are raising slogans of freedom and death to the dictator.
‘Firing with machine guns outside the police station’
An Iranian doctor has claimed in a conversation with Time magazine that as the protests intensified, security forces in many areas opened fire directly on the protesters. The bodies were removed from hospitals on Friday. Several protesters were killed in machine gun fire outside a police station in northern Tehran. At least 30 people were shot in this incident. Protestors in Iran also set fire to the Al-Rasool Mosque in Tehran.

According to the Washington-based Human Rights Activist News Agency, at least 63 people have died so far, including 49 civilians. Let us tell you that human rights organizations have stated the number of deaths to be less than the doctor’s claim. One reason for this is that due to the media being under the control of the government and the ban on foreign news agencies, the figures of deaths are coming out differently.
Warning to keep children away from demonstrations
Tehran’s public prosecutor has warned that protesters could be given the death penalty. An official of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has asked parents to keep their children away from the demonstrations. On the other hand, Trump has warned the Islamic regime led by Khamenei that if the protesters are killed, they will have to face very serious consequences.
