According to family members, Shapoor Zadran was unwell for some time. On January 12, 2026, his brother Ghamai Zadran shared information about his condition through social media. He told that Shapoor’s health is serious and he is undergoing treatment in the hospital. After this, sources related to Afghanistan cricket also confirmed that Shapoor’s white blood cell count has dropped. Due to which his condition remains critical. However, no official medical details regarding his illness have been revealed yet.

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif posted on social media and wrote that this bowler, who used to play like a lion on the field, is fighting for his life today and needs everyone’s prayers. Shapoor Zadran’s career
If we talk about Shapoor Zadran’s cricket career, he is counted among the most reliable fast bowlers of the early era of Afghanistan cricket. He entered international cricket in 2009, when the Afghanistan team was struggling to establish its identity. In a career spanning nearly 10 years, he played a total of 80 international matches for the country. This includes 44 ODI and 36 T20 matches. He has 43 wickets in his name in ODI cricket, while in T20 he sent 37 batsmen to the pavilion.
Shapoor Zadran’s most memorable performance was seen in the 2015 ODI World Cup, when Afghanistan registered its first World Cup win against Scotland. In that match, Shapoor took important wickets with the ball and later created history by scoring the winning runs with the bat. He said goodbye to international cricket in the year 2025.
