Jan Suraj Party leader Prashant Kishore reached the SSP office on Saturday (January 17, 2025) in the case of death of NEET student in Patna. The student’s family members were also present with him. The purpose of this meeting was to ensure humane treatment of those against whom FIR has been registered after the protest and to appeal to avoid unnecessary action keeping in mind the legal aspects.
Prashant Kishore said that on Friday we met the victim’s family at their home (Jehanabad). Meanwhile, the government took cognizance of the matter and formed SIT. Now it is expected that SIT should investigate the matter and those who have been wronged should get justice.
PK said that there were two reasons for meeting the SSP today. Firstly, the family believes that the victim’s family is angry towards the female IO (Investigation Officer) who was investigating the case, hence they want departmental action to be taken against her. Secondly, the family members of the victim and the youth had recently staged a protest at Kargil Chowk in protest against this incident, against whom an FIR has been filed. On Friday, the police had raided BN College in the same regard. This matter has also been brought to their notice.
‘The government also admitted that some mistake has been made’
Prashant said that in the incident the government also accepted that some mistake has been made, hence SIT has been formed. In such a situation, it would not be appropriate to take action by filing an FIR against those who were protesting against the incident. On both these matters, the SSP has assured that he will look into it from his level, as far as possible the police will adopt a humanitarian approach. No strict action will be taken against those against whom FIR has been lodged.
Prashant Kishore further said while talking to the media that the government has constituted an SIT under IG. Let the investigation be done. Whatever the victim’s family has said, we have put it before the government and administration. SIT has been formed for this, let them take the decision. The victim’s family cannot be suppressed considering them weak, that is why we stand with them.
On the question of trust in Patna Police, Prashant Kishore said that if the administration had not made any mistake then why would there have been so much uproar. I had assured the father of the victim girl that your voice will be raised. The government has constituted the SIT, thanks to them for this.
