A powerful explosion occurred in front of a Chinese restaurant on Monday (January 19, 2026) in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. This blast was carried out targeting a vehicle carrying Chinese citizens, in which at least 7 people died. Rival groups within the Taliban are accused of being behind this attack.
Reuters, citing officials, said that many people have been killed and many have also been seriously injured in this explosion. The explosion occurred near a hotel located in a heavily guarded part of central Kabul.
Taliban government issued statement regarding the blast

Kabul Police spokesman Khalid Zadran said, ‘A terrible explosion occurred in a hotel located on Gulfaroshi Street in Shahr-e-Naw, the fourth district of Kabul city. Many people were injured in this explosion.
