Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has given a statement, in which he has said that when he and another Tehran official were talking to US President Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff, the atmosphere was very tense.
He said that during the conversation he asked Witkoff if he had ever participated in such a conversation. Where there is danger of bombing at any moment. It was not clear which part or place of the conversation he was talking about.
Araghchi says that Iran is not afraid of America’s threats. This is not Venezuela, where you catch a person. Everyone else gets scared and retreats.

This contact cannot be considered as formal talks: Iran
The conversation between Araghchi and Witkoff began during the nuclear talks. Since then several rounds of talks are going on. Tehran says that this contact cannot be considered a formal conversation. In an interview with Iranian media Mehr News, Araghchi said that Tehran will not kneel like Venezuela. Mention has been made of the American military operation to bring about regime change in the South American country.
Since talks began last year, contacts between Araghchi and Witkoff have taken place in several capitals. The first round took place indirectly in Muscat on 6 February. Oman’s mediators kept coming and going between the two delegations and a brief face-to-face meeting took place at the end of the day. After this, three more rounds took place in Muscat and Rome. The fifth round was to be held in Europe. Later both of them met in Geneva. Then the war started. In April Araghchi traveled to Islamabad, Musk and Moscow for a meeting with Witkoff and Jared Kushner, brokered by Pakistani officials. Apart from these formal visits, both also maintained a parallel channel through direct text messages.
