Bangladesh’s sports advisor Asif Nazrul has issued another poisonous statement. He says that if the International Cricket Council (ICC) comes under pressure from BCCI and puts any unfair condition before Bangladesh, then it will not be accepted. Nazrul has been giving provocative statements in the past also. No conclusion has been reached yet in this dispute that has been going on for several weeks.
Speaking at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Asif Nazrul said, “If ICC, under pressure from BCCI, puts forward any unfair conditions before us, they will not be acceptable to us. Examples of this have been seen in international cricket, when India refused to play in Pakistan and ICC had to change the venue. We have made a proper request to change the venue.”
According to a recent report, ICC had given an ultimatum to Bangladesh Cricket Board that it will have to decide by January 21 whether its team will go to India and play or not. According to the report, if BCB refuses to send its team to India, then its place in the World Cup will be given to Scotland on the basis of rankings.
But BCB media committee chairman Amjad Hussain said that on January 17, there was a meeting of BCB officials with an ICC representative. According to Amjad Hussain, after that meeting, ICC said that they will soon contact Bangladesh Cricket Board again, but no date was disclosed.
On the other hand, ICC is not ready to change the original schedule of T20 World Cup 2026. As per the current schedule, Bangladesh has been placed in Group C along with New Zealand, West Indies, Italy and Nepal. Bangladesh will play its first match with West Indies on 7 February.
