The political turmoil in Europe has intensified due to US President Donald Trump’s continuous aggressive statements regarding Greenland. Anger over this issue came out openly in the European Parliament when Danish MP Anders Vistisen not only rejected Trump’s claims but also criticized him in very strong words. “I say this in words that you might understand, ‘Mr. President, go to hell,'” he said during the Parliament session.
During the session of the European Parliament, Anders Vistisen said that America’s occupation of Greenland is completely unacceptable. Addressing Trump, he gave a sharp reaction and clearly said that Europe is not going to bow down to any pressure or threat. His statement rapidly became a topic of discussion in social media and international politics.

Why does Trump want Greenland?
Donald Trump says that Greenland is very important for America in terms of national security. He argues that to stop the growing influence of Russia and China in the Arctic region, America will have to establish a strong hold there. On this basis, he expressed the need for American control over Greenland.
Tension increased due to threat of tariff
The matter became more serious when Trump indicated that if European countries oppose American steps, a 10 percent tariff could be imposed from February 1. Europe has seen this statement as an attempt to create economic pressure.
Clear answer from Denmark and Greenland
Greenland is a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. The leadership of both Denmark and Greenland have clearly stated that the island is neither for sale nor will it come under any pressure. European leaders have described Trump’s statements as against sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Social media post increased the fire of controversy
The controversy deepened when Trump shared an edited picture on his social media platform Truth Social. In this picture, a map of America was shown, in which Canada, Venezuela and Greenland were shown as American territories. In the background, Trump was seen meeting with European leaders, which further increased the resentment in Europe.
