This broke the previous record made in June 2025. ECMWF’s Strategic Climate Lead Samantha Burgess has said that in a warming world we will see more heatwaves.

According to AFP, Burgess says that the heatwave will increase further. Will last longer. Will affect more geographical areas. Burgess believes that we are in a time of such change. Where climate change is no longer a future problem read about in reports, but has become a concrete and disturbing reality of everyday life. Thousands of deaths have occurred due to heatwave across Europe. The highest number of deaths have occurred in France, Spain and Belgium. Between June 15 and 30, 41 crore people have faced high temperatures. Burgess has admitted that Europe will have to work on new plans to fight climate change.
