America’s Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife Usha Vance are expecting the birth of their fourth child at the end of July this year. The Vance couple said in a joint statement, ‘We are very happy to share the news that Usha is pregnant and we are to welcome our fourth child in July. Both Usha and the baby are healthy and we are all excited to welcome her at the end of July.

“During this exciting and busy time, we are especially grateful to the military physicians who provide excellent care to our families and to the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve our nation while living a happy family life with our children,” the statement said.

The White House also congratulated the Vance couple and wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the most pro-family administration in history! Congrats!” Usha Vance (40) and J.D. Vance (41) met while studying at Yale Law School. He has three children. Ivan (8), Vivek (5) and Mirabel (4). Vance came on his first official visit to India in April last year, in which Usha Vance and her three children were also with him. The Vance family stayed in India from 21 to 24 April and during this time they visited Jaipur and Agra after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.

Usha Vance is a lawyer by profession and has worked as a law clerk with Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court John G. Roberts and then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master’s degree from the University of Cambridge, where she was also a Gates Cambridge Scholar.

Who are Usha Vance’s parents?

Usha Vance’s parents Krishna Chilukuri and Lakshmi Chilukuri came to America from India in the late 1970s. According to the university website, Krishna Chilukuri is a lecturer in the Aerospace Department of the College of Engineering at San Diego State University, while Lakshmi Chilukuri is a professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Provost of the Sixth College at the University of California, San Diego.

This news of the Republican Vice President’s family expanding has come at a time when Vance has been expressing concern about the falling birth rate in America for a long time. He also raised this issue prominently while contesting the US Senate elections from Ohio in 2021. Even as the Vice President, he has taken this campaign forward and said in the ‘March for Life’ program in March 2025, ‘I want to see more children being born in America.’
