The Meteorological Department had already expressed the possibility of change in weather patterns on Basant Panchami. Rain alert was issued for Friday, January 23 in Delhi and surrounding areas. The Meteorological Department estimates that till the afternoon of today, Friday, January 23, the sky will remain cloudy and there will be light rain intermittently.

The Meteorological Department had issued an alert that along with rain, there may be storm and lightning on Friday. There is also a possibility of light fog in the morning. Winds can blow at a speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour. Also, there will be light fog in the morning.

In Delhi, Thursday, January 22, is being considered as the hottest day of January in the last seven years. Releasing the data, the Meteorological Department has informed that the maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung Observatory was 27.1 degrees Celsius. However, the temperature is expected to drop again in the next 24 hours.

The department said that the maximum temperature higher than this in January was last recorded in the city in 2019, when the mercury reached 28.7 degrees Celsius on January 21. The second hottest day of this month was recorded on January 19, when the maximum temperature was 26.7 degrees Celsius, while the average maximum temperature so far for January has been 20.4 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s air is still ‘very bad’

Even on Thursday, January 22, the air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category. Some relief is expected due to rain and thundershowers on January 23. The city’s 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 313.
