After 2008, the Indian cricket team has never toured Pakistan. At the same time, after Pakistan team’s tour of India in 2012-13, no bilateral series has ever been played between the two teams. Recently, there was a lot of controversy regarding T20 World Cup 2026, where Pakistan supported Bangladesh’s demand to change the venue (from India to Sri Lanka).

Not only cricket but also political relations between India and Pakistan have been in bad shape for years. Amidst all this, is it possible to have a bilateral series between India and Pakistan and will both the teams be able to resume touring each other’s country? BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla has given a clear and unambiguous answer to this question.

Will India-Pakistan bilateral series happen again?

Speaking to news agency ANI, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said, “In these circumstances, our policy is that whatever order the government gives, we will follow it. ICC has also made it clear that if the government says something about any country, the cricket board will follow it. Similarly, in this matter too, the government’s order will be followed. I do not think bilateral tours between India and Pakistan are possible at this time.”

Rajeev Shukla reiterated the policy of the Government of India, under which India vs Pakistan matches will be played at neutral venues. Last year, the Indian Army had targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, this action was named Operation Sindoor. After Operation Sindoor, the tension between India and Pakistan has deepened.

T20 World Cup 2026 will be played hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Hybrid model will be adopted in this tournament also, hence Pakistan’s matches will be held in Sri Lanka.
