Senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor has given a big statement on the ongoing speculations regarding his absence in an important Congress meeting held in Delhi on Saturday (January 24, 2026). He clearly refused to say anything publicly on these speculations and said that this matter has already been discussed a lot. If there is any further issue then it will be placed directly before the party leadership.
I have to raise these issues with the party leadership: Tharoor
Speaking at the Kerala Literature Festival (KLF) held in Kozhikode, Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor made it clear that he will not discuss the internal matters of the party on any public platform. He said, ‘I have not come here to make any political announcement. It is a literary festival. These are issues that I have to raise with the leadership of my party and not on any public platform.
He said he will go to Delhi for the Parliament session, where he hopes to get a chance to have proper and systematic talks with the party leadership. He said, ‘I have been in the Congress party for the last 17 years. Whatever has happened wrong needs to be talked about and that will be done on the right platform only.

Reiterating this, Tharoor said that he has already made his stand clear about not attending the meeting and now will not give any further clarification in this matter publicly. He said, ‘This issue has been adequately covered in the media. Some reports may be true and some may not. I will not explain my reasons publicly. He emphasized that he had already informed the party leadership about his absence.
Shashi Tharoor speaks about his stance on Operation Sindoor
Apart from this, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor clarified that there has been no change in his stand on Operation Sindoor. While denying any remorse for expressing his opinion in Parliament, he also denied that he had taken any step against the party line. He said that in his entire parliamentary career he never took any position contrary to the official stand of the Congress. However, he also clarified that their difference of opinion regarding Operation Sindoor was a matter of principle, which he described as a matter of national security and not party politics.
Tharoor said that decisions on issues related to national security should be taken with clarity, responsibility and a sense of national interest. Referring to one of his articles written after the Pahalgam terror attack, Tharoor reiterated that such attacks should not be left unanswered and India has the right to take strict measures.
