India scored 75 runs for 2 wickets in the first 6 overs, which is India’s second highest powerplay score in T20 International against New Zealand.
With this innings, India almost touched its own 19 year old record. Earlier, in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, India had scored 76 runs for 1 wicket in the powerplay against New Zealand in Johannesburg, which still remains on the top.
Aggressive intention shown in Raipur
In this match played in Raipur, Indian batsmen adopted an aggressive stance from the beginning. The way the Indian batsmen batted during the powerplay made the match one-sided. The biggest heroes of this victory were Ishan Kishan and captain Suryakumar Yadav.
Ishan Kishan batted in a flamboyant manner and scored 76 runs in 32 balls. On the other hand, captain Suryakumar Yadav once again showed his class. He played an unbeaten inning of 82 runs and by staying till the end, he led the team to victory.
