Scotland Announces Squad For ICC T20 World Cup 2026: The ICC T20 World Cup 2026, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will start from February 7. After Bangladesh’s exit from this tournament at the last moment, ICC allowed Scotland’s entry in the T20 World Cup. After this, Scotland has announced its squad on Monday i.e. 26 January. Scotland has also included Afghanistan-born fast bowler Zainullah Ihsan in its 15-man squad.
Afghan player of Pakistani origin in Scotland team
Zainullah Ihsan is the only player in the Scotland team who has been included in the team for the first time. This fast bowler had recently obtained the eligibility to play for Scotland. Safyaan Sharif, who is included in the Scotland team, is of Pakistani origin and his visa application will be scrutinized more closely. Tom Bruce, Finlay McCreath and Oliver Davidson will feature in the World Cup for the first time after being included in the T20 and ODI squads in the last 12 months.

11 players included in the team had played in the last World Cup
Richie Berrington will captain Scotland in the T20 World Cup. This team includes 11 such players who were also part of the T20 World Cup team played in West Indies and America in the year 2024. Scotland had appointed Owen Dawkins as the head coach only last month and under his supervision the team will participate in a major tournament for the first time.
Scotland will join Group C instead of Bangladesh
Scotland has replaced Bangladesh in Group C, which includes Italy, West Indies, England and Nepal. Bangladesh had refused to play in India citing security concerns, after which the ICC has included Scotland in the tournament in its place.
