SIT again sent summons to KCR, questioning will be held at his residence on February 1, Yarravelly’s demand rejected

Former Chief Minister of Telangana and BRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) has once again been issued a notice by the investigating agency (SIT). The authorities have directed under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) that he should be present at his Nandinagar residence in Hyderabad on February 1, 2026 at 3 pm.

The investigating agency has rejected KCR’s demand for interrogation in Yarravelly and has made it clear that this interrogation will take place only at the address recorded in his official records. In this official letter issued on January 30, SIT officials have said that they are being included as evidence in connection with case number 243/2024. The notice clearly states that the electronic and physical records related to the case are extremely sensitive and it is not possible to move them from here due to security reasons.

what the officials said
Officials said that although KCR’s age and health have been kept in mind, considering the nature of the records he will have to come to his Hyderabad residence. It was also said that the previous obligation to appear near the police station has been relaxed to conduct the investigation at his residence, but the venue will not be changed.

What did KCR say by writing a letter to the investigating officers?
Earlier, on behalf of KCR, his representatives had written a letter to the investigating officers on January 29 demanding an investigation in Yarravelly (V) Markook (M). However, the investigating agency, while giving clarification on two points, said that in the official documents, the place of investigation is registered as Hyderabad only and it would not be appropriate to change it as per the legal process. The notice is signed by the ACP of Jubilee Hills Division and the investigating officer.

Now all eyes are on this action to be held on 1st February. This notice has come at a time when political turmoil is at its peak in the state. This step of the investigating agency shows that while understanding the seriousness of the case, they are in a mood to ignore any kind of political pressure or convenience. Now it remains to be seen what stand KCR takes after this notice and whether he remains firm on his demand for inquiry in Yarravelly or follows the instructions of the agency.
