Qualification for studies in Food Safety
To make a career in this field, it is necessary to have a science background. The candidate must have a degree in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Dairy Technology. After graduation, candidates can prepare for FSSAI or state level examinations.
How much does it cost to study food safety?
The cost of courses related to food safety varies according to the college and course. B.Sc / B.Tech (Food Technology) from a government college costs Rs 20,000 to Rs 60,000 per year, while the same course from a private college costs Rs 80,000 to Rs 2,50,000 per year. If you want to study at a lower cost, M.Sc / M.Tech (FoodScience/FoodTechnology) is Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakh per year. Government universities and state colleges are better options.
How much salary do you get?
On becoming a Food Safety Officer or Food Analyst, the starting salary can range from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000 per month. With increasing experience, salary can reach Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh per month. In government jobs, facilities like DA, HRA, medical facilities, pension and job security are also available.
