Turkey has given a big blow to Pakistan which is trying to create Islamic NATO. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has made it clear that Türkiye will not become a part of any new geopolitical grouping. He said that we are not interested in forming any new geopolitical grouping.
Hakan Fidan took the initiative to create a credible regional solidarity platform based on collective responsibility. Earlier there was speculation that Türkiye would join the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defense agreement. In such a situation, this statement is being considered a big blow for Saudi Arabia also.
What did the Turkish Foreign Minister say?
Hakan Fidan said do not outsource your security. He argued that the main problem in the region is not just external interference, but a deep lack of trust between nations. Unless regional countries take responsibility for their problems, there will be no stability. He further said that regional security requires unity and ultimately the creation of agreements and platforms that reflect shared interests rather than dependence on external powers.
Do not accept anyone’s dominance – Fidan
The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that any such arrangement should be inclusive. He said that there is no Turkish dominance, no Arab dominance and no Persian dominance. He stressed that Türkiye’s goal is responsible regional action. He repeatedly stressed on increasing rules-based cooperation and regional ownership.
Let us tell you that these days Turkey is increasing its influence in the Middle East. Türkiye’s relations with Saudi Arabia have strengthened. At the same time, distance has increased in Türkiye’s relations with the United Arab Emirates. Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are unanimous on the issue of Palestine, while on the other hand the United Arab Emirates has normalized relations with Israel by joining the Abraham Accords.
