What is the study required to become an officer in CBI?

How can one become an officer?

There is no direct recruitment in CBI, rather officers are appointed through different examinations. The first and most common way is SSC CGL exam, after passing this exam, the candidate can get appointment to the post of CBI Sub-Inspector. This is the post of entry-level officer in CBI. The second way is UPSC Civil Services exam. After becoming an IPS officer by passing this exam, one gets posting on big posts like DSP, SP or DIG in CBI.

CBI Officer Salary

The salary of a CBI officer varies according to the post. The starting salary of a CBI Sub-Inspector is around Rs 45,000 to Rs 55,000 per month. DSP or SP level officers get a monthly salary ranging from Rs 70,000 to more than Rs 1 lakh. Apart from this, many government benefits like DA, HRA, TA, government accommodation, medical facilities and pension are also available.
