Pakistan has decided not to play with India in the T20 World Cup 2026, but for this it may have to face serious consequences. Now a PTI report has revealed that ICC has warned Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that it may have to face legal action if it does not play with India.
Pakistan had refused to play the match against India to be held on Sunday, February 15. However, PCB has not yet officially informed ICC about this. According to news agency PTI, if Pakistan does not play matches with India, then it can put a stop to its annual earning from ICC, which is said to be around 35 million US dollars.
Preparation to punish Pakistan
A PCB source said that if Pakistan does not bow down and play the match with India, then it will not only be punished financially, but may also have to face legal action by the broadcasters of T20 World Cup 2026. If Pakistan approaches the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Committee, such efforts are likely to fail.”
As a rule, the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Committee does not hear decisions taken by its own board.
Why will Pakistan be punished?
According to the same report, another PCB source said that whatever the Pakistan government may have said, the PCB will have to face serious consequences for not playing India, because its matches have been scheduled at a neutral venue (Sri Lanka) as per its wish. The source further said that the Indian government had refused to send its team to play Pakistan, but this has not affected the organization of India vs Pakistan matches. Whereas Pakistan is refusing to play only India even after getting a neutral venue.
Since India vs Pakistan match is a money mine, it will be a profitable match for any broadcaster. Now if the India vs Pakistan match does not take place in the T20 World Cup, then the broadcasters will have the right to take legal action against ICC and PCB.
