T20 World Cup: Don’t forget the favor… Sri Lanka’s threat to Pakistan, letter written regarding IND vs PAK match on 15th February

Now only 1 day is left for the 10th edition of the T20 World Cup (T20 World Cup 2026) to start, but it is not yet clear whether the India vs Pakistan match will take place on 15th February or not. Actually, the Pakistan government had announced on February 1 that their team is participating in the tournament but they are boycotting the match against India. However, PCB has not yet said anything in writing to ICC. Now the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has written a letter to the PCB in a threatening manner asking it to reconsider its decision.

According to a Sri Lankan news website, Sri Lanka Cricket Board President Shamsi Silva has written a letter to the PCB asking it to reconsider the decision to abandon the match against India. In the letter, he has written that he has received information from media reports that Pakistan will not play the match against India, which is to be held on February 15 at R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

Sri Lanka will suffer loss

Sri Lanka Cricket told in this letter that if this happens then they will also suffer loss. It was written in the letter that as the host country, we are eagerly waiting for the tournament. Logistics, security and commercial preparations have been made for the matches to be held in Sri Lanka. Ticket sales of matches are also included in this. It was told in the letter that the sale of tickets for the India-Pakistan match was tremendous, but if Pakistan does not play, it will have a bad impact.

Sri Lanka warned Pakistan that if this big match does not take place, it will have a bad impact. Sri Lanka will suffer economic, projected tourism income loss. Sri Lanka also reminded Pakistan of the previous time when it visited Pakistan even in a challenging and sensitive situation. Sri Lanka said that when other cricket teams were not coming to Pakistan, this decision was taken out of mutual respect between the two boards.

Request made regarding IND vs PAK match

Assuring complete security, professionalism and fairness in all matches, Sri Lanka Cricket has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board to reconsider its decision of not playing the match against India.
