A major political change has been seen in the mayor elections held in Malegaon Municipal Corporation of Maharashtra. Local political party Islam Party’s candidate Nasreen Bano Shaikh has been elected the new mayor of Malegaon.

He registered this victory by defeating Shiv Sena candidate Lata Ghodke by a huge margin of 25 votes. This election has created new equations in municipal politics and has also clearly shown the strength of the secular front.

A total of 43 corporators voted in favor of Nasreen Bano Shaikh.

During the voting, a total of 43 corporators voted in favor of Nasreen Bano Shaikh. Whereas Shiv Sena’s Lata Ghodke could get only 18 votes. Nasreen Bano Shaikh got the support of all 35 corporators of Islam Party. Apart from this, 5 corporators of Samajwadi Party and 3 of Congress also supported him, which strengthened his victory.

Lata Ghodke got support from 18 party corporators

According to the information, on the other hand, Shiv Sena candidate Lata Ghodke got the support of 18 corporators of the party. But this number was not enough for victory. In this election, corporators of AIMIM (MIM) and BJP remained neutral and did not vote in favor of any candidate. Due to which the trend of competition became already clear.

A total of three candidates contested for the post of Mayor

A total of three candidates were in the fray for the post of Mayor and five nomination papers were filed. But in the end the contest remained between Nasreen Bano Shaikh and Lata Ghodke. After the results came, the corporators and supporters of the Secular Front celebrated vigorously in the Municipal Corporation Auditorium. Nasreen Bano Shaikh’s victory was welcomed with drums, slogans and applause.
